Chevy equinox service stabilitrak engine power reduced
It sounds like your traction control system may have some faults in it such as a faulty control module or potentially faulty wheel or angle sensors. The traction control system works by reducing engine speed and determining which wheel to apply brake pressure to in order to prevent the vehicle from sliding in adverse weather conditions.
The computer uses information received from electronic sensors regarding the rotational speed of each wheel, the horizontal motion of the vehicle, and the vertical motion of the vehicle to determine how to direct the traction control system or the anti-lock braking system to best control the vehicle when needed.
When this warning indicator light comes on in the dashboard, this could be an indication of several issues such as faulty wheel speed sensors, a faulty steering angle sensor, a faulty rotational speed sensor or a problem with the steering rack. I would recommend having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to properly diagnose your traction control system.

Remember Me? OldAM Thread Starter. I have a Equinox LT and it has been in the shop to have powertrain service 4 times this year so far for running rough and loud. Today as I was driving, suddenly my engine light went on and the engine started running so rough it almost stalled. Took it right away to the dealership to investigate. I googled the issue and came up with the same issue on a chevy enthusiats blog where Chevy truck owners were saying it came down to bad air intakes and needing the replacement of the throttle body.
Anyone having this same errors on their Equinox and if so, was it the throttle body or something else?Motala dejt
Is this a powertrain warranty issue assuming it is? I would love some feedback directly from GM Customer Service on this blog as well Quick Reply. Remove Advertisements. OldAM. Providing that all of your repair visits to the shop were for them trying to fix the same thing, and depending on the rules for your State, it certainly sounds like you would be a prime candidate for Lemon Law action.
Also, yes, your probably should be covered by the Powertrain Warranty. I do not recall anyone having throttle body issues with these vehicles. Are you burning any oil? If so, it could be an issue with Zebra Striping of the cylinders. Otherwise, it could be bad solenoids of actuators. The engine light and error codes are gone now, but I'm hoping the issue is actually fixed. Really ridiculous. The dealer even mentioned that the throttle body isn't "technically" a powertrain warranty part and that he was doing me a favor by not charging me.Sign In with Edmunds. September edited September in Chevrolet. My Impala had these lights come on along with the check engine light. Once I turned the car off of for about 10 minutes the messages did not reappear however the engine light is still on.
November My Impala ltz had this issue, and it would just shut off at random times. Our regular mechanic couldn't figure out what was causing the problem so we finally broke down and took it in to the dealership.Of course the warranty had run out by then. I don't understand why GM puts this junk on the road Jeopardizing peoples lives other than to fulfill their own pockets with your wealth if you want to call it that.

Remember Me? OldAM Thread Starter. I've got a mess. The code never cleared itself, and it hardly started once she got out of work to come home. At lower RPM's the motor runs smooth. But when I give it more throttle to get up higher than the RPM range, it starts cutting in and out like its starving for fuel. Not blaming this problem on them, just wondered if it could have anything to do with it?
Engine power reduced, Service traction control, service stabilitrak and engine light
Also, Cruise Control says its set to whatever speed I'm at, but never actually sets. Not sure if this helps any at all. If this all has to do with fuel pressure, why does it say "Service Stabilitrak"? Any ideas? I got a lemon as well Thanks guys and gals! Quick Reply. Remove Advertisements. OldAM. Re: I've got a mess.
A low charge on your battery can result in many CEL codes being set. I would first check the battery, and if that is fully charged, then I would bring it to the dealer, and point the finger at them, since they touched it last.
RIT is offline. I would suspect a faulty throttle body position sensor or something with the wiring for that system, especially after having the major repairs done. If the car idles well at low speeds but not at higher, there is something going on with the fuel delivery from what you say.
Low battery wouldn't cause those symptoms I don't think but it won't hurt to have it checked out first. The cruise won't set with a Check Engine Light on. Other systems will also turn on the lights such as Traction Control and Service Stabilitrak if certain other engine functions are not normal, even if it doesn't actually affect the traction or stabilitrak system as such. A leaky master cylinder code on the Enclave will set off the stabilitrak and traction lights as an example, as will a broken wheel sensor wire on most GM cars.
Lots of good info here.

Thank you for that. I am going to drop it off at GM tomorrow and they are going to work with me since they just did all the motor work. If it is something that has nothing to do with the repairs they just made, they'll let me know what the diagnosis is, and if simple, I will repair myself to save money. They have treated me very well thus far so hopefully everything works out!Math 416 umich
I will keep you all posted. OldPM. They just pulled your engine completely apart. High probability that this is likely related, maybe something was not put back together correctly. Get it back to the dealer. Ralphalph is offline. OldPM Thread Starter. I am taking it this evening, and they are looking at it first thing in the morning.Thankfully I was in town when this issue happened otherwise it would have led to a serious accident as it is a HUGE safety issue!
While driving the car began to drive extremely rough aggressively shaking, coming to hard stops, etc. Shortly after pulling over, several notifications popped up on our dash - engine power reduced, service stabilitrack and our check engine light turned on.
We were unable to go anything over 25 mph imagine being on the freeway at 65 mph, and getting kicked down to 25 mph, imagine the accident waiting to happen.
We took it in and they flushed the throttle body and all was well, for the time being. Less than 2 months later the same issue occurred, all lights kicked on and car would not exceed 25 mph! Thankfully my 3 year old was not in the car with me at this time as i was on a main busy road! Fast forward to a few months later, now, I went to turn on my car and once again all the lights turned on again, however, the car would not start and just made a clicking sound when turning the key.
It has been nothing short of a money pit, safety concern and headache! I am truly surprised after reading all these complaints that this issue has not been recalled! Lights and radio remain on, although the car is in drive, it stops. Fairly significant problem as it happens during a drive and could cause a fatal accident. The car is at the mechanic, so waiting on diagnosis. How to make setup file with advanced installer
Will never purchase another Chevy again. Well to paint a picture, I had my family with me on a 1. At just about 50, miles the check engine light cam on and displayed, "service stabilitrak, engine power reduced. Luckily we pushed through at sometimes 20 mph but couldn't stop because we were in the middle of nowhere at at night when the temperature was 10 degrees Took it to the dealership on a Saturday during deer hunting season, so come Monday the local dealership said it was the throttle body.
Seriously, why does a throttle body go bad at 50K miles? I have had numerous cars, all with over K miles and have not had to replace a throttle body. I sent this directly to GM Customer Service and was referred to the local dealership as this happened 9 hours away from where we live on vacation. She said, "why would I think that I could get reimbursed for repair outside of warranty.
So I explained that GM should pick pursue a recall instead of pushing costly repairs onto its customers. I am severely irritated with GM, specifically its quality and the fact their cars are stylish but only designed to last through an initial lease period. I will very hard pressed to buy another GM product.Blutv cookies
With all other issues associated with this vehicle and the looming threat of needing an engine replacement, I'm looking to dump this car ASAP. Within 1 minute car started to slow even though I was pushing gas pedal. Put on flashers and luckily made it to work never able to get over 15 mph. AAA sent flatbed. Thank God still had warranty left. Replaced throttle body. I loved this truck but this is an alarming somewhat common problem. In order to verify that you are a human and not a spam bot, please enter the answer into the following box below based on the instructions contained in the graphic.

Service Stabilitrak, Service Traction Control, and Reduced Engine Power -- anyone?
Hi everyone, new to the forum. I have a Equinox with the 4 cyl ecotec motor with 63k on the clock. I started to get the dreaded reduced engine power and stabilitrak messages and the car would go into limp mode.
After calling some dealer ships and reading these same issues online I decided to try to replace the Throttle Body myself. I purchased the TB on Amazon. It took me about 15 minutes to get the battery cable, air box, and all the connections off. I was taking my time to make sure nothing was lost and its the first time I get under the hood of this car.
The throttle body came out in 4 bolts and a sensor clipped in. I replaced the throttle body, clipped the sensor back in, put on the air box, all sensors, and reconnected the battery in 50 mins start to finish and that was messing around getting some lights in my garage.
I am happy to say almost 2 months later no issues and the car is driving great. This was going on once or twice a day for a week. Hope this helps anyone with the same issues. How ironic Quick Reply. Remove Advertisements. OldPM. So the whole Throttle body has to be replaced since the Throttle Body sensor is integrated into the TB itself? Well, still not a bad repair for DIY. Congrats on your fix!
